Size Matters...

Well a lot has happened since our last post, so I will do a quick little recap of the last three weeks... we did a lot and had a lot of fun.  So now that we are caught up to the present -- we got a new big screen TV.  We were not planning to get a new TV until Christmas time but when Lauren saw the television at the store she could not resist.  She kept on nagging me telling me how cool movies and sports would look on this new TV, so I finally gave in.  I personally do not see the big deal, it is just a TV.  But if I must be honest, I do love it and it wasn't Lauren doing the nagging.

Last night we went to a see some drag racing with a couple that we know.  It was actually a lot of fun and there were some fast cars.  It was really loud and a whole new experience.  The crowd was a little backwards but it all contributed to the environment.  When it was all over we ran home to wash the 'redneck' off.  Hopefully there will be no long term effects.

Good times in Beaumont

On Saturday night the married folk went to see a musical.  But not just any musical, we saw "Footloose".  It was a lot of fun, even Kevin Bacon would have been proud.  It was just done by a local group at an outdoor theatre.  I have never seen the movie, but I have seen the infamous scene of Mr. Bacon in the warehouse and his awesome moves.  Unfortunately this play did not have that scene, but it was still fun.

Wedding Time...

Our friends, Jen & Tyler, got married on July 2nd.  I was a groomsman so that was a lot of fun.  What is even more exciting is that they are living in our apartment complex in the building across from us, so we are stoked to have them as neighbors.  The wedding was absolutely beautiful.  The reception was here in Orem at a place called Somewhere in Time.  It was really nice and we got a lot of good pictures.  So congratulations to them!

The whole thing made me think about our wedding.  I can't believe it has almost been a year.  I am so glad that it happened, Lauren is the best thing in my life.  She got her haircut before the wedding so tell her you like it.

4th of July

Well it has been an exciting weekend for us.  There was a lot going on, but we had a lot of fun.  My parents came from North Carolina and will be out in Utah/Idaho for another week or so.  Lauren's parents came up for the weekend.  And on top of all of that my brother and sister came down for a couple of days with their fiancee and girlfriend.  So it was nice to have a full house and to spend time with everyone.  We had a cook out on the 4th and then went up to BYU to watch the fireworks.  We had an awesome view, it was the best that I have ever had.  But there always has to be a kink in the plans, and our big kink came on the way home from the fireworks.  We all waited in traffic for at least a couple of hours.  It was ridiculous, but somehow we persevered and are here today to tell the tale.  All in all it was a great 4th of July!

Caution--Contents Will Break Under Pressure

Sorry it has taken us so long to make a blog entry.  We have had exciting things to write about The most exciting is I broke my collarbone.  You would be surprised how much we use that bone. So I have been in a sling for the past week and still have another two weeks to go.  I broke it at a water park here in Utah.  Apparently when you fall off your tube in an enclosed slide you are not supposed to hit the wall at high speeds -- go figure.  So I have been out of commission and been feeling especially worthless, but Lauren has been so helpful and supportive.

I also got a MacBook.  This is the best decision I have made since I married Lauren.  I even made a movie to put on YouTube from our wedding that I'm quite proud of, the web address can be found below.  If you do watch it I only ask that you give us compliments, I don't deal with criticism too well.

Lauren has been studying away.  She is taking her 3rd CPA exam in a couple weeks.  Outside of that she has been helping her vegetable husband. She helps me get dressed, get cleaned and about everything else. What a girl!

Lauren's mom and step-dad are coming here this week and so are my parents.  It will be awesome to see them both and we promise to take lots a pictures.

Good News...

A lot has happened since our last post. But we will try to hit the highlights. I got accepted into the accounting program at BYU. It will be a lot of work, but it is nice to know that it is offical. I will start in the fall, so for the next couple of years my life has gotten a lot busier. Lauren also just found out she passed the second part of her CPA exam! Thank you all for your support and help. Lauren was so excited and she has a renewed dedication to studying.

Lauren's grandparents from Washington also stopped by Provo and we were able to go to breakfast with them. It was great to see them, they are such great people.

Family -- Isn't it about...Time

I got to see my brother this weekend. Joe -- that is his name -- just got back from his LDS mission in San Diego, CA. He spent a few days at home and came to Utah to spend a day with us before we took him to Idaho for school. It was really good to see him, it's always crazy to think how fast two years go by. We went shopping, watched Arrested Development, and hiked a mountain. We were successful in all endeavors except for the mountain part, it was a little longer and steeper than we anticipated. Me and Lauren will go back and when we conquer Everest Jr. we will make sure you all know.

We then drove him up to Rexburg, ID to go to school. It's a small little town, but my little sister and brother like it. The drive started out a disaster as our air conditioning did not work for the first hour or so. Unfortunately I have to report there was a quite a bit of complaining. I just don't do well when I'm super hot. But then the heavens smiled on us and it randomly started working. I don't know how it started working, but I was suddenly in a more pleasant mood.

We then dropped him off with my little sister Tiffany and then began the trek back home. We made it home exhausted, but at least we slept well.

A Vicious Cycle

After taking Sunday and Monday off Lauren has once again resumed her studying. As you can see she is very excited. Her goal is take this next exam the second weekend of July. It is hard not to feel bad for the girl, she just works so hard. Other than that life is good. My little sister just got engaged, and my little brother just returned home from a two year mission. So when you take those things into account our lives seem pretty boring.

A Fun Weekend...

Lauren took her second part of the CPA exam on Saturday. It was such a relief for her -and me- to finally be finished. She had worked so hard and studied so much. We will keep you updated on the results (even though we all know she aced it). Afterwards we took a break and went up to Salt Lake City. Lydia had gotten us a gift card to a cute place called Ruth's Diner. It was fun and good. I even ate a mushroom sandwich, it made me feel very trendy to eat a vegetarian dinner. We then went and joined some of the classiest people in Utah at an Utah Blaze, Arena Football game. It is professional indoor football league, the field is only 50 yards and it is meant to be more high scoring. It was interesting and so much fun that we left at halftime. But on the way down we went to Sonic and rekindled our love for the Lemon Berry slushy. We highly recommend this delectable treat, it is the perfect combination of sweet and sour, all for a very low price. It was a nice escape and it was great to spend the day together.

It's Crunch time...

Those who know Lauren can attest to her work ethic. The girl works harder than anyone I know. Her second section of the CPA exam is coming up this weekend and Lauren has taken studying to a whole new level. She deserves to succeed more than anyone and she will do awesome. Despite her hectic schedule she is still the best wife ever. As the week wears on I am sure she will only study harder. I hope everyone can cross their fingers and say an extra prayer for her.

It's getting hot up here...

We officially kicked off summer with a quick trip to Trafalga. It is a local mini golf place here in town. It was actually a really nice day and it was a great break for Lauren from studying (she is taking her CPA exam in a week). Lauren beat me--but she kept score. Am I the only one who smells something fishy? I have appealed the final score and the victory is being reviewed, but until then I guess I have no choice but to declare her as the winner. Lauren has submitted this scorecard as evidence of her domination...
I do not do too well with losing, so this will will take some time to get over. It was a fun day, and we got a season pass so we should have many more.

Our First Post...

Well we are going to try this out and see how it goes. Hopefully it will be a great way to keep in touch with family and friends. Lauren is not totally sold on the idea, but I think she will come around. I figure we can all give her positive peer pressure and she will eventually succumb. We got a new camera yesterday, which means we should start taking more pictures and documenting our fun and uneventful lives for all of you. We hope you all will enjoy.
